The adventures really began about 100 years ago when some
settlers came to Washington state and noticed something different. Warm, sunny
days, crisp, cool nights and rich, volcanic soil. And lots of pure Cascade
mountain water. They're perfect conditions for growing apples! So it’s not surprising
that one of them said,
“Hey, why don’t we grow apples here?”
Of course, those early pioneers had no way of knowing what they started. Who
would have dreamed that one day those very orchards would not only produce 15
billion apples a year, they would be enjoyed by people all over the entire planet.
They couldn’t have known, either, that Washington Apples would become the superstars of the produce world—so incredibly popular that they would be invited to wonderful places, near and far, to visit their gazillions and bazillions of admirers.
With this book, you can share the colorful adventures of Washington’s own ambassadors of good will (and good taste) as they travel from the mountains of Washington state, to the prairies of our land, across mighty oceans and far, far, far beyond.
